   An artist notebooks can be filled with an entire career of ideas.   Notebooks, are a pure and free arena and embody the essence of the creative process.


      I remember years ago as a young art student seeing the notebooks of Picasso at the Pace Gallery on 57th St in New York.  I believe I had heard that a then young Matthew Marks prior to embarking on his own gallery had organized that show.   As an art student it was quite the privilege to see inside such an artist notebooks. 


     Because notebooks are not usually meant for others consumption, they can be some of the most direct impulses of an artist.  As well they let you into an artist mind and process not always found in finished works.
